All the equestrian classes at RWAS Smallholding & Countryside Festival…

It’s just a week to go until the Royal Welsh Showground will be bustling with activity as we welcome visitors back to the favourite family event, the Smallholding and Countryside Festival.

There’s plenty of equine activity on the timetable, among plenty of other attractions celebrating countryside life.

Equestrian classes comprise: Show Jumping, Veteran Horse Society – Area Qualifier, CHAPS Mid Welsh Regional Show, Heavy Horses, Traditional Gypsy Cob, British Miniature Horse Society, Welsh A,B,C,D & Welsh Part-Bred, Shetlands, Working Hunters, Hunters, Hacks, Riding Horses & Cobs, Irish Draught, Mountain & Moorland, Open Intermediates/Retraining of Racehorses, Arabs, Side Saddle, Young Handler and Donkey Breed Society.

Taking place next weekend (20th and 21st May) the Festival is a celebration of rural life and country living with smallholding pursuits at its heart. The weekend-long event is a showcase of the real diversity of the Welsh countryside. Together with an array of display ring attractions, competitions, children's activities, shopping tradestands, live music, and delicious food and drink, the Festival promises to be a fantastic day out for all.

Following advice from animal health professionals and the prevalence of the Equine Flu in the summer of 2019, the Society Officials made the decision to allow only horses vaccinated against Equine Flu to attend the 2023 Smallholding and Countryside Festival.

The Society expects all equine entries to have an up-to-date equine influenza vaccination record. They must have received two primary vaccinations which are given not less than 21 days and not more than 92 days apart.
